As an Assistant Product Analyst you will complete assigned tasks and projects in support of product analysts and product managers.  Projects are often detailed; some require strong quantitative, logical or computer application proficiency.  APA is generally an entry-level position for a recent graduate with no insurance experience. APA could also be a transfer position for an operations employee with a superior work history and aptitude for detailed project work.  APA is expected to learn and develop while completing assigned tasks and projects.

• Obtaining data and reports from policy and claims systems using menu-based reporting tools or previously-prepared reports.
• Organizing and processing data and reports into pre-determined formats for use by managers.
• Obtaining competitor rate filings and extracting relevant competitor information to perform comparative analyses.
• Use comparative rating tools to obtain competitor rates and perform rate comparisons and organize comparisons into market baskets or other pre-determined formats for use by managers.
• Completing template-based analyses, such as monthly reports, rate level indications or rating factor analyses, by populating inputs in prepared templates.
• Describing or researching business processes (policy issuance, renewal, invoice, cancellation, quoting, etc.) to document workflow, identify gaps and redundancies, evaluate data quality, and relate process to product components.
• Executing User Acceptance Testing of product-related IT revisions.
• Ad hoc analysis and miscellaneous support of the products and product managers.
• Familiarity with MS Office applications (Word & Excel required, Access & PowerPoint a plus).
• Quantitative and analytical aptitude demonstrated through college coursework or other work experience.
• Familiarity with general business concepts – income statement and balance sheet, supply/demand, time value of money, risk/return.
• Familiarity with analytical applications (SAS, R, MATLAB) or coding (SQL, Java, Python) a plus.
• Attention to detail.
• Professional communication skills.
• Initiative to learn, acquire new skills and increase contribution.
• Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks and projects.

• Bachelor’s degree required. Quantitative discipline (math, physics, finance, economics) highly desired.
• MBA or graduate-level quantitative coursework is a plus.
• Professional work experience is a plus, but APA can be an entry-level position for a recent college graduate.
