The Policy Services Supervisor I reports to the Manager of Policy Services and Underwriting in a high-capacity leadership role. This position is responsible for building a dedicated team and shape staff behaviors to accomplish desired results as well as maintain documentation such as correspondence, operational records, and performance accountability records. This position plays a collaborative role in improving, implementing, and ensuring their team’s adherence to policy services and underwriting standards and processes. This role effectively supervises and supports 6-10 direct reports. Qualified candidates should possess previous leadership experience in hiring and performance management. To ensure success you need to employ good judgement and tact in interacting with others and be focused on customer and staff retention. Preferred candidates can perform to an elevated level of accuracy and are meticulous and organized.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, leadership and support to direct reports and is accountable for department’s results.
  • Develop team members by providing opportunities for growth in developing key metrics.
  • Implements procedures / processes that drive change, consistency, and alignment across a function.
  • Proactively manage the underwriting workflow daily to ensure that all applications and underwriting flags are being processed within the established service levels.
  • Conducts customer call and performance audits of direct reports to ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, policies, procedures, and call center best practices.
  • Assist with underwriting processes as needed to maintain service levels.
  • Ensure all operations are consistent with the stated mission and direction set forth by Traders.
  • Ensure quality support and customer service is provide to all internal and external customers.
  • Prepares and distributes performance reports.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with all direct report to provide positive feedback and discuss performance issues as well as address employee concerns.
  • Counsel employees on educational and job opportunities which will enhance their career development, and keep staff informed of current problems, changes, and new developments in the department and company by conducting weekly team meetings.
  • Assemble and deliver Mid-Term and Annual work performance assessments for direct reports.
  • Assist the Manager in setting weekly productivity and annual department goals and objectives for the department.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills including ability to prioritize escalated situations, direct report feedback, support and development as well as creating and analyzing reports.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supervising small teams, including hiring and performance management. A supervisory certification is a plus but not required.
  • 3+ years related experience directly handling personal auto underwriting and customer service processes.
